In Today’s class we had a guest lecturer, Kirsten Pierce. She spoke of many ways teachers can practically tie in technology into the class room. The talk was focused on cross curricular content with technology and outdoor education. In particular, Kristen argued for creating meaningful uses of technology which foster relationships with the land and outside environment.
Some of the tools Kristen highlighted were google earth, Minecraft, bookmaker.

Watching webcam at watering hole in Africa can be captivating and informative for students. It’s also important to look at local flora and fauna. An example of a bald eagle’s nest webcam, where one can see the eagle and chicks
Using “assignments” like watching the moon every day or bad eagle net webcam can provide opportunities for observation and documentation.
Moreover, Kristen spoke about virtual tour guides, mindfulness sensory walk to engage with technology and place.
After the talk we had planned to go to Finnerty gardens, however the rain broke the resolve of the class. We eventually submitted and hid in our tower of concrete despite our discussion on nature literacy.
